Comment Linky Love

I seem to get some spammy comments on this blog. So in order to discourage that, I just installed Lucia’s Linky Love DoFollow Plugin. Basically the nofollow tag will be put into your comment until you comment at least 4 times.

I think 4 times is fair, since this isn’t a very popular blog (despite having the highest PR of all my blogs, makes me loose faith in PR). So, if you comment now and you haven’t left 4 comments, you’ll have the nofollow tag on your links.

I’m sorry, but I am a bit tired of getting spammy comments just for linkbacks.

And I want to reward my frequent commenters! :)

I only read do follow blogs, and If I want to comment I read the entire post and leave an educated comment…not sure this is the best way to attract people to comment as now you will get 4 spams instead of one, just for a backlink. If you feel that strongly about people getting links from you I would suggest removing do follow altogether or enable it and just delete the spammy ones

Hi Matthew, I actually disagree. For instance, I just approved a comment with a link back to some type of school. I don’t really want to make that a follow link, it might be spammy. If it is not spammy then they can return and post more comments and then after 4, get link backs.

I have not noticed that people will spam multiple times in order to get linkbacks. Only once, maybe twice. Thanks for your comment.
